National 4-H Conference

  • What: National 4-H Conference
  • Who: 4-H members (15-18 years old), nominated by the county extension 4-H agents
  • Where: National 4-H Center, Chevy Chase, Maryland
  • When: March 29-April 5, 2008
  • Purpose: The National 4-H Conference is a working conference where youth and adults assist in the development of recommendations to help guide 4-H Youth Development Programs nationally and in their communities. This event brings together youth, volunteer leaders, and state and county Extension staff members from across the United States, its territories, and the Canadian provinces.
  • Program: Delegates are expected to travel on March 29, 2008, unless they make special arrangements for early arrival. On site registration will begin in the afternoon and early evening on March 29. There will be a pin swap in the evening, which delegates will join in as they settle into their rooms. The Conference will formally begin at the Opening Assembly early ing the morning of March 30. On April 4, the Conference will formally close at the USDA Assembly. After the USDA Assembly, state delegationswill visit their representatives on Capitol Hill. Delegates will meet, following Capitol Hill, for a twilight cruise on the Potomac River. Delegates depart after breakfast April 5.
  • Includes: Lodging, meals (with the exception of travel days, State's Night Out and Capitol Hill Day), Dinner Theater, Field Trips, Program Assistants, Legislative Visits, Service Learning Project, Get Acquainted Social. DOES NOT INCLUDE round trip transportation to and from the National 4-H Center.
  • Cost: $975.00/delegate
