Pennsylvania 4-H State Capital Days

The 44th Annual 4-H Capital Days will be held from April 13-15, 2008. This years event will be held at the Hilton Harrisburg & Towers, on Second St.
Objectives:
To provide an experience for Pennsylvania 4-H members which will lead to a better understanding of their roles as citizens of Pennsylvania.
- Study the process of legislation
- Meet and talk with state government officials
- Visit various facilities of state government
- Develop an appreciation for Pennsylvania's heritage
- Relate the 4-H educational program to government officials
- Gain a better understanding of political issues
- Government Career Exploration

Cost:
The cost is $265 per delegate or adult. This $265 includes five meals (dinner Sunday night, lunch and dinner on Monday and breakfast and brunch on Tuesday), a padfolio, lodging Sunday and Monday nights at the hotel, and breakfast for the invited legislators. Advanced Capital Days Attendees fee will be $325.00.

The registration website will close on February 20, 2008. Late registrations will be accepted February 21-March 1, 2008 with a $30 late fee.

Cancellations:
Any cancellation from February 21, 2008 through April 1 will have a cancellation fee of $165.00. If an individual is cancelled out after April 1, 2008 the full fee will be required to be paid and there will be no refunds.
Please note the following two important updates:

- All chaperones for the Capital Days Event must be 20 years of age and older
- No 4-H members will be allowed to use the pool at any time. This is due to safety and insurance precautions.

Delegate Quota:
Each county can select as many delegates as they see appropriate (4-H members who have passed their 15th birthday by January 1, 2008 and who have had a minimum of one year in 4-H).

Maturity should be of prime consideration in delegate selection. The planning committee prefers that counties select participants who have never attended Capital Days previously.
