Animal Sciences Curriculum Committee Meeting Notes

Curriculum Committee Sub Chairs
5/24/2004 - 305 ASI

Minutes

  1.  4-H Animal Science Impacts
RDs and CEDs have asked for documentation of impact from QA / Ethics training and shows. DAS does not have expertise or personnel to collect and analyze data. Bob met with Christy K. and offered help in identifying study issues if faculty/ grad student was identified in Ag Ed to do the study. In the interim, Bob will assemble works from other states and summarize.

  2. QA and Ethics – Where to from here?
Still receiving lots of questions about the program. No major changes expected for 2005. For future years, Bob will package individual slide sets of QA / Ethics for each of the three years in the rotation. Packages will include materials lists for QA hands-on activities. Distribution will be via 2005 CD. Pre-packaged programs should make educator’s preparation and delivery easier.

  3. Agent in-service date?
Discussion on moving in-service to late fall so any new programs could be incorporated into next year’s planning process. Decided to leave date in late winter and not introduce any major programs changes for the current year. In other words, any major program changes introduced in 2005 would not go into effect until 2006. 2005 in-service is tentatively scheduled for
Feb. 4. Educator input on content is welcomed.

Will survey counties on the possibility of doing new agent training the evening prior to 2005 in-service.

  4. Future Meeting Schedules
Fall meeting dates are September 13 and November 15, both at 9:30 AM in 305 ASI.
