The Family Guide to 4-H Publicationshas been developed especially for Pennsylvania youth and their families. The guide describes the publications available to support 4-H projects. These include member manuals and records, leader guides, and other publications for families.
The 4-H program provides opportunities for youth and their families to participate in positive youth development experiences. Four-H projects in a variety of subjects serve as vehicles for youth to experience and acquire life skills in five areas:
Youth participate in 4-H through clubs, schools, camps, and special interest groups located in towns, cities, and rural areas. They learn through hands-on experiences and participate in opportunities for demonstrations and presentations. There is much to hold the attention and interest of youth and their families.
Look at the listing of contents, choose a subject such as animal sciences and leisure education and then turn to the page where the particular projects and publications are described. When you find a project you and your family like, call your county extension office. The office staff will help you locate a club or perhaps start a club.
